Frequently asked questions

What does the seasonal index mean?

100 is an average month. A month with 140 gets 40% more searches or traffic than average; 70 gets 30% less.

Why publish 6–8 weeks before a peak?

Google needs time to find, index and rank new or updated pages. Publishing early means you are ranking when demand rises.

Can I use weekly or daily data?

Yes. Values are averaged per calendar month, so daily, weekly and monthly exports all work.
